Ara Poutama Aotearoa – The Department of Corrections is one of New Zealand's largest government departments, employing around 10,000 staff, the majority of whom work with people in our care in our 18 correctional facilities or 151 Community Corrections sites across New Zealand. Mō te tūnga | About the role
As an integral member of the Corrections Services Leadership team you will support the National Commissioner to lead and deliver on strategic objectives and priorities including leading major Corrections Services projects and programmes on behalf of the National Commissioner. This role will have a particular focus on the delivery of the Department's strategy to ensure public safety, reduce re-offending, provide better public value and enhancing leadership.
You will lead core foundational functions such as prison population, operational sector engagement and national initiatives impacting on operations and emergency responses. This role will encapsulate both an operational overview coupled with active participation in strategic leadership. Of equal importance is the focus on providing better outcomes for Maori in our care and community.
This role plays a pivotal part in leading the support function for the Office of the National Commissioner and ensuring the development of team members. Overseeing the National Intelligence team, you will provide leadership and strategic direction of day-to-day practice for this group.
