Cadetship opportunity at Te Taiwhenua o Heretaunga
TE ROOPU TOHE KAIRANGI (The group striving for excellence)
Te Taiwhenua o Heretaunga with MSD are offering cadetship opportunities to seven people to develop, train or upskill in different areas of our organisation.
The cadetship will run for one year and cadets are offered 30 hours work per week.
THE AIM
The aim of the cadetship is to give people that have an interest in learning more and upskilling themselves in the given areas an opportunity to receive on the job training while being a part of our whānau based work environment. Te Taiwhenua o Heretaunga will create and facilitate pathways that enable cadets to gain skills and experience that lead to recession-resistant, higher paid employment including self-employment.
CADET POSITIONS
Seven positions are available as below:
ADDED BENEFITS OF THE CADETSHIP PROGRAMME
Ø Pastoral support provided to each cadet through single contact
Ø Work ready benefits available prior to employment including uniform, PPE, equipment and resources required to carry out cadetship
Ø Ongoing training (internal and external)
Ø Work ready driver licensing where appropriate
Ø In-work mentoring
TARGET GROUP
To be eligible for this service each participant will be:
(a) In receipt of Job Seeker Support with a full-time work obligation, aged 18-24 years,
OR (b) In receipt of Job Seeker Support with a full-time work obligation for longer than 3 months (full-time work obligations are defined as a minimum of 30 hours per week or more), aged 25 years and older,
OR (c) In receipt of Job Seeker Support with a part-time or deferred work obligation (part time work obligations are defined as a minimum of 15 hours per week or more),
OR (d) In receipt of Sole Parent Support with a part-time or deferred work obligation (part time work obligations are defined as a minimum of 20 hours per week or more),
OR (e) Registered Job Seekers displaced from their employment and seeking to redeploy into employment,
and (f) A New Zealand citizen or permanent resident and ordinarily resident in New Zealand
and/or (g) Approved working age clients who are in receipt of a main benefit or have an exemption to this because they are in a situation where the Director, Industry Partnerships or delegated authority has decided there is a need to provide assistance.

CRITERIA FOR CADET PROGRAMME
As the cadetships are part funded by MSD and administered by Te Taiwhenua o Heretaunga, there is a criteria to apply.
As well as being fully vaccinated and a NZ citizen or permanent resident, cadets must meet one of the following criteria to be accepted into the cadetship programme:
