Tautane Station is a 3,730ha coastal sheep and beef breeding unit, with the capacity to carrying out some finishing. The station currently runs 30,000 SU, which includes Romney sheep and an Angus cow herd. The farm is located 1 hour east of Dannevirke and Waipukurau in the coastal farming community of Herbertville.
A full-time position has become available for an Experienced Shepherd. The position will involve working with a team of 4 other staff members, as well as carrying out a wide range of individual tasks.

The suitable applicant will demonstrate the following qualities

• Honest and reliable,
• Strong work ethic with a can-do attitude,
• Good communication skills and a team player,
• Strong Stockmanship skills with the ability to handle large mobs and big paddocks,
• Confident in operating machinery on steep hill country,
• Be able to work unsupervised,
• Hold a current driver’s license,
• Efficiency when working alone,
• Able to maintain accurate stock records.

The successful applicant will be involved in the day to day running of the farm with a main focus on livestock. Some general work including maintenance fencing will be involved.
