More about Para Kore

Our work is expressed through an experienced and skilled team who work regionally delivering the Para Kore education programme to marae and rōpū. The rōpū we work with include but are not limited to: marae, whānau, hapū, iwi, kura, kōhanga reo, puna reo, kindergarten, community organisations, events, churches, tertiary institutions, companies, community gardens, and kaumātua rōpū. The outcomes Para Kore seeks for our communities and rōpū are social, environmental, cultural and economic. Our work contributes to moving up the waste hierarchy, building a circular economy, increasing biodiversity, supporting climate justice and action, and regenerating ecosystems. The Para Kore whānau are passionate about and committed to collaboration, and collective action for a carbon neutral, zero waste Aotearoa that rebalances our connections with Ranginui, Papatūānuku and between all things.

The objective of our education programme is encouraging zero-waste, circular systems to be the norm again vs single-use, linear, throwaway systems. We do this by providing te ao Māori based waste education and working within the framework of kaupapa and tikanga Māori and in te reo Māori as appropriate.
