SKILLS: Experienced and successful at engaging and motivating young people and adults who have not previously had success with education through Visual Art?

Mō te tūnga |About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to support prison-based learners to become better prepared for employment and further education. You will focus on supporting learners to engage in a variety of art based education activities and programmes to help learners improve their skills, knowledge, rehabilitative motivation and engagement with other interventions.
You will also be supporting a variety of education programmes and activities offered to offenders at Corrections. You will play a significant role in encouraging prison-based learners to improve their art skills and education ; work towards achieving New Zealand qualifications; and aid reintegration back into the community.
You will be required to work effectively in a custodial environment - leading by example and maintaining professional boundaries. By interacting closely with key stakeholders, both internal and external, you will be collaborative in sharing information and ensuring outcomes beneficial to the successful rehabilitation of our offenders.

We are looking for a visual art educator who is:
Able to teach, lead and promote art education to prison learners
Familiar with learning environments and supporting learners to use them.
Has a good understanding of assessing learning needs and developing individual learning pathway plans.
Ideally experienced in working with Maori and Pasifika learners, and those with high needs and diverse world views.

Responsible for the effective and efficient delivery of end to end rehabilitation and reintegration functions, our teams are dedicated to reducing re-offending.

We would like to hear from you if you have:
Experience assessing and working with young people and adults who have not previously experienced education success
A tertiary qualification and/or a qualification in adult education
Experience working with prisoners in a prison setting
Demonstrated competency in using computer applications including Microsoft Office suite, TEC Literacy and Numeracy Adult Assessment Tool (LNAAT),PathwaysAwarua.
Sound knowledge of the New Zealand Qualifications Framework
Experience with embedding literacy and numeracy
Experience successfully engaging Maori, Pasifika, and at-risk youth in education
A strengths-based approach that embraces manaakitanga and whanaungatanga.
A full driver's licence is essential for this position. The preferred applicant will demonstrate exceptional communication and organisation skills as well as the ability to influence, inspire and motivate. Make a difference.
The salary band for this position is $65,510 - $70,889.
